Samsung Mob!lers is a new youth campaign which encourages participants to engage their communities through social media platforms using a selected group of students as ambassadors. The Mob!lers, selected from local colleges and universities, are divided up into five different teams and every individual is given a Samsung Galaxy S mobile phone, and a number of other incentives to spread the word.
The Mob!lers first task, which was decided during a briefing session on 5th July, is to use the Galaxy S phone as a tool to host a physical party. This will be achieved through using the social networking applications on the device (known as Social Hub) to invite their friends, arrange the logistics, create events on Facebook, and upload pictures and videos using the High Definition camera.
Each team is encouraged to share the news about the party with as many people as possible on their social networks. The party clips/videos will be posted on Facebook, and the videos with the most views and comments win.
Each member of the winning team will receive a personal entertainment system from Samsung.
Mob!lers recruit Ridhi Shah, from Middlesex University in Dubai, commented on the first task, saying: “I like the sound of the first mission and was immediately excited. It will be a lot of fun but hard work at the same time. There are so many exciting applications on this phone, and I’m sure we could spend our money effectively to ensure our party is a great success.”
